A Cup of Temple Tea

Hi, Lovelies! So it is that time of the week again where we talk self-care. Like I mentioned in my SELF CARE post last week, one of the ways I practice self-care is to make myself a cup of tea and embrace the concept of Hygge. I wanted to share with you one of my favourite things I like to make for myself when I need a bit of an emotional or physical “pick me up”…Temple Tea. Temple Tea is not really tea but rather a cup of glorious warm goodness. So here’s how you can brew a delicious cup for yourself…

A Cup of Temple Tea

You’ll need:

  • A knob of ginger – peeled and cut into slices
  • 2 slices of lemon
  • A cinnamon quill
  • A few sprigs of mint
  • 1tsp honey
  • 1 cup boiling water

All you need to do is add the ginger, lemon, cinnamon, mint and honey to your favourite cosy mug. Now pour over the boiling water and allow to “brew” for 3-5mins.

And that’s all there is to it!

And just in case you needed more motivation to try Temple Tea, not only is this brew delicious it also has many health perks.

Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties and can help with weight loss.

Lemon promotes hydration and can improve the quality of your skin.

Cinnamon is said to be the healthiest spice on earth and is known to lower blood sugar levels and reduce heart disease risk.

Mint helps to soothe an upset stomach and can help digestion, as well as, helping reduce stress and combat the common cold.

Honey contains anti-oxidants that assist with improving cholesterol levels and help with blood pressure.

So be good to yourself today and go brew yourself a cup. And feel good about the fact that not only are you embracing the concept of Hygge for your mental well being, but you are also doing something great for your physical health.

Enjoy hunnies! And let me know if you give it a try.
